here I have explained in a  easy and in a simple manner to learn crystal structure and  basic lattice types.

CRYSTAL STRUCTURE:

crystal are made up of  building blocks  i.e., it is made of  atoms or a group of atoms. 

To understanding its structure we need to learn the concept 

• lattice 
• Basis 

LATTICE  it is a periodic arrangement of  imaginary points in a space . lattice itself a mathematical abstraction . BASIS is a single atom or a group of atom that is attached to a points in a space.

most important property of  lattice is the ability to the define a three dimensional  transnational vectors a₁, a₂, a₃  such arrangement of atoms in the crystal looks same when viewed from the point T when viewed from every other point T' translated by an integral multiple of a's

T'= T+ u₁a₂ + u₂a_{2 +} u₃a₃

here u₁, u₂, u₃ are arbitrary vectors 

     

the transnational vectors are called primitive (i.e., one lattice point per unit cell ) if  the volume of the cell smallest. the volume of the cell is enclose by the primitive vectors are called primitive unit cell
